It’s not uncommon for an independent business such as Langdon Systems to be approached by much larger software companies seeking to acquire them. Our strong reputation as customs experts makes us a particularly desirable target.

Opportunities

Over the last few years, we have been approached with several attractive propositions to acquire the business; however, we have resisted their overtures in favour of our independence. This wasn’t the first time we have been approached and taken this decision, and it most likely won’t be the last.

We move forward by continuing our position as the strongest voice and market leader in this field.

Agendas

Having had exposure to the inner workings of larger software companies, we believe that their agendas can be different to our own which is one of the main reasons we have chosen to remain independent.

The extensive infrastructure that these companies heavily invest in is a primary driving force within their business. They need a return and as such everything else can become secondary. Software like ours would be integrated into their platform to provide, for example, enhancements to global platforms and single-window approaches.

Whilst giving them the opportunity to direct their focus on the core elements of the solution this may mean other important functionality or tools are overlooked. Moreover, these larger companies are subject to greater levels of bureaucracy.

Langdon Systems on the other hand, are proud to be agile duty management specialists, giving complete focus to all our solutions.

If you’re not aware of the benefits that come from working with customs experts at a niche independent software house like Langdon Systems, quite simply we have a uniquely focused team that bridges the gap between compliance and cost-saving for our clients and addressing issues immediately allows us to deliver against our client’s goals.

Essentially, your goals are our goals.

Priorities

Following an acquisition, the priorities of a business will undoubtedly change in favour of integration and migration, which can often mean a detour is taken from the current roadmap. We realise the importance and business critical impact this can have for prospective and existing customers as it may imply uncertainty when viewing the longer-term partnerships and service levels.

Stability in service and consistency in the product have been at the forefront of our business model for the last 34 years, affirming our position as a leader in this market.

History & Heritage

We’ve specialised in duty management solutions for 34 years. We are Customs experts through and through, just like a stick of Blackpool rock from top to bottom and engrained the middle. Our Managing Director, Paul Carroll, has been in the business for 27 years which demonstrates the commitment and integrity of a family-run independent business.

We aim to deliver streamlined solutions which allows our clients to rationalise their operations, reducing manual work by automating systems, saving costs either directly or indirectly, and allowing customers to keep their workforce efficient.

Future Developments

Rest assured, we’re here for the long-haul.

Independence allows us to be flexible and agile, if you like – a speedboat alongside the Titanics of the world! We will continue to deliver market-leading duty management solutions whilst providing a bespoke service to all our customers for years to come. It’s in our DNA and the very essence of who we are.
