The UK will officially leave the EU on Friday 29th March 2019. Although a period of transition is being negotiated – postponing our exit until 31st December 2020 – all its effects won’t become clear for some time. However, it is critical that businesses start to prepare now. We do know Brexit will have a major impact on your customs and trade compliance.

Also, in the coming months HMRC is introducing the Customs Declaration Service (CDS) – the replacement for the current customs reporting system, CHIEF. The effect of implementing this new system should not be underestimated, particularly with an extra 200 million declarations per year anticipated post-Brexit.

We aim to keep you informed and up-to-date with what’s happening on Brexit and CDS. As the key Brexit figures from the UK and the EU continue to negotiate and the CDS programme progresses, our team of customs experts will track and document changes and report them to you via a series of blogs and news updates in the Insight section of our website.
